Objectives.
For 30 years a sandstone quarry has been in operation at Brownlow Hill. It has left a significant hole in the landscape, which The Downes Family in keeping with their sustainability goals, want to rehabilitate.
The scale of operations proposed for Breen Macarthur Recycling Centre is considered to be similar to the previous activities at the quarry. Noise and traffic movements will also be similar to or lower than the quarry operations, while other amenity issues will be minimised for neighbours through sensitive design.
Void.
Sustainable solution to the filling of the void space.
Economy.
Positive contribution to NSW’s circular economy.
Jobs.
Local job creation – approximately 30 FTE jobs. In addition to temporary employment opportunities during the commissioning and rehabilitation of the site.
Rehabilitate.
Rehabilitate 8.5 ha with Cumberland Plain Woodland species.
