Community Consultation.

2019 - Our initial proposal in 2019 was for a large waste management facility and landfill, designed to receive up to 420,000 tonnes of waste per annum and to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

2021- In early 2021, we presented to the community a revised proposal for an on-site recycling centre (The Wattle Creek Recycling Centre), which would receive up to 130,000 tonnes per annum of dry, inert materials to be sustainably managed, recovered or reused. Activities on site were proposed to have similar impacts to the existing quarry operations.

Now - Following consultation in 2021 (the Wattle Creek Recycling Centre proposal), the Downes family and Breen Resources have developed a refined proposal for a recycling facility at Brownlow Hill – the Breen Macarthur Recycling Centre.

We are in the early stages of this proposal and the planning process. The proposal’s State Significant Development Application will be developed in 2023 and will be supported by extensive discussions and consultation with site neighbours and the local community. We will update the community and stakeholders with our program for consultation next year.

Secret Garden.

Secret Garden was a two day music festival hosted by the Downes Family. Secret Garden started in 2009 with 300 attendees. Over it’s 11 year history it rose to 5,000 attendees, selling out each year. It also won many awards and acknowledgements for the ‘best music festival’.

Not only was Secret Garden a lot of fun, it raised almost $500,000 for local and international charities.
